Medical Laboratory Technology

This course is being offered by Padmashree Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology. Medical Laboratory Technology is an Allied Health specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through the use of clinical laboratory tests. Though the Medical Lab technologists spend less time with patients than doctors and nurses, medical laboratory professionals are just as dedicated to patients' health. As vital members of the health care team, medical laboratory professionals play a critical role in collecting the information needed to give the best care to an ill or injured patient. The fact is, the practice of modern medicine would be impossible without the tests performed in the laboratory.

JOB OUTLOOK: Ranked in the "Top 20 Best Jobs" in the Jobs Rated Almanac by Les Krantz, it states that Medical Lab technologists have expanded career options. Hospitals, reference and research labs, industry, and public health facilities all currently have open positions for qualified applicants. Job opportunities are expected to be excellent, because the number of job openings is expected to continue to exceed the number of job seekers. Employment of Medical Lab technologists is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations through the year 2014, as the volume of laboratory tests continues to increase with both population growth and the development of new types of tests. In job ratios M.Sc. MLT is in the top lists of best jobs. PG's are employed in teaching, administration of labs, research projects & departments, genetic engineering, industrial firms, diagnostic companies, quality control programs etc. They have been sought after globally as they are well trained to act as an excellent interface between medicine and technology .

Masters in Science Medical Laboratory Technology

The Institute is offering the M.Sc. – MLT course affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences from September 2006. Students opting for this course can chose specialization in the following subject specialties:

Candidate should have completed his B.Sc. – MLT or B.M.L.T. course with minimum 50% marks. Candidates who have B.Sc. – MLT or B.M.L.T. by correspondence or distance education program are not eligible for this course.
