Attainment of optimum health is the desire of every individual. Health of the people is an index of the level of development of a country. The achievement of a country in preventing diseases and promoting health depends upon the contribution of all members of the health team particularly that of nurses, who form a major group.

Education is the key of all the progress and achievement. Educational preparation of nurses, who contribute primarily towards the health of the community, needs constant attention keeping in mind the changing health needs of the society. In the light of the changing educational system of the country, the course in General Nursing has been re-organized into a three years programme.

 
Courses in General Nursing & Midwifery

The purpose of the General Nursing Programme is to prepare general nurse who will function as member of the health team beginning with competencies for first level position in both hospital and community.

The programme is geared to the health needs of the country, the community and the individual; and it will serve as a basis for advanced study and specialization in nursing; it will serve as basis for advanced study and specialization in Nursing; it will assist nurses in their personal and professional development so that they may make their maximum contribution to the society as individual citizens and nurses.
